If you haven't visited them before then enjoy, if you have or you know Mike then please read the important message below.
On Wednesday 16th April 2003 Mike died after a motorcycle crash on his way home. He was no doubt enjoying the fantastic sunny weather and the joy of riding his bike along the A413 to where he lived. As he approached Winslow heading up the hill to Shipton, Mike appears to have been going too fast to take the corner, lost control of the bike and crashed, tragically into a car coming from the opposite direction. He was airlifted to the John Radcliffe in Oxford, but died in surgery during an operation to treat his injuries. Please follow the link below for details of his funeral.

Mike will be sorely missed by those of us who lived, climbed, rode and spent time with him. Mike loved his climbing and his bike as these pages show, if he had any choice in the matter I am sure he would have wanted to go by either falling off a mountain or riding his bike. Mikey had recently returned to biking after a long break. He wrote something very special about his life, "Forever Young", that he wanted to put on his website. It seems that now is an appropriate time for it to be posted.
Both the Redfield community and Great Bears intend to keep Mike's site available. Redfield will continue to host the original web address http://mike.ibbitson.users.btopenworld.com whilst a copy is to be hosted by the Great Bears.
